Elytics by The Speed Doctor

Elytics elite performance analysis

Speed, movement, and biomechanics measured from the clip you already have and specific to the sport, position and movement.

Drop in game film, a 40 or a vertical. Mark the timing, let pose detection read the joint angles, and get speed, force and acceleration, with every number labeled measured, modeled or estimated.

Your video stays on your device. Only the single frames you measure with Roboflow are sent for analysis.

Coach Schuman walks through one clip from start to finish: mark the timing, measure the pose with Roboflow, track the athlete, and export the breakdown.

Watch what a breakdown looks like.

Real Speed Doctor breakdowns: live physics over the play, pose-measured angles on the frames that matter, and a coaching card for each one.

One clip in, a breakdown out.

The same layout as the Speed Doctor videos: a live physics panel, the frame with the skeleton and measured angles, and a coaching note you write.

  1. Mark the timing

Step frame by frame and tap the moments that matter: first movement, each yard line, the cut, takeoff, landing.

  2. Read the body

Roboflow’s YOLOv8x pose model, the one behind the Speed Doctor videos, measures trunk lean, knee and shin angles and thigh split on any frame you pick. On-device tracking follows the athlete while the clip plays.

  3. Get the physics, and what to work on

Speed curve, acceleration, force per step and momentum, tied to the phases of the play, plus flags on what to fix with drills for each. Save it to the athlete’s profile to track progress clip after clip.

  4. Export it

Download vertical 1080×1920 cards and a rendered video with the panel running over the play, with a voiceover in Coach Dave’s voice or another.

Sample card drawn with the demo figure. Your exports use your clip.

Built for the movements coaches actually film.

Football

  • 40-yard dash with 10 and 20 splits
  • 5-10-5 pro agility
  • Ball-carrier runs: burst, cut, top speed, contact
  • QB scrambles and pass rush get-off and bend

Track

  • Block starts to 30 m
  • Flying sprints through a timed zone
  • 100 m with splits
  • Long jump approach, takeoff and flight

Basketball and volleyball

  • Vertical jump from flight time, with push force
  • Volleyball approach jump
  • First step and drive
  • Baseline-to-baseline sprint

Baseball, softball, soccer and more

  • 60-yard dash, home to first, steals
  • Soccer sprints and cuts
  • Any straight-line sprint or jump
  • Any play: name your own phases

Every number wears a label.

A fast clip is easy to hype. Elytics tells you which numbers came off the frame, which came from a model, and which came from timing you marked.

MEASURED
Joint angles read by pose detection (2D, so they depend on the camera angle), and official tracking numbers you enter, such as an NFL Next Gen Stats top speed.
MODELED
Worked out from a model plus a known input: a speed curve from a 40 time, force per step from bodyweight and the phase of the run, size physics against a reference athlete.
ESTIMATED
From the frames and distances you marked: split times, speeds between yard lines, flight time and jump height.

From Coach Schuman.

David Schuman has evaluated more than 200,000 athletes over 23-plus years and founded the National Underclassmen Combine. Elytics is the same breakdown method behind his Speed Doctor videos, opened up so members, whether athletes, parents or coaches, can run it on their own film.
